Well, tonight is the last night in the United States (at least for a while). Today was a very busy day. I repacked my three bags and now I am down to two. One bag weighs 69 pounds the other weaighs 45. According to the airlines, I am allowed two fifty pound bags to check in with no additional cost.
However, a third one could be added for $200. Spending an additional two hundred dollars on a bag is out of the question at the moment. The web site stated that a traveler can pay for additional baggage weight, upto 70 lbs total) for just $50. After reading that, I decided to consolidate my three bags into two. it was tough, but is now done. Hopefully my heavy bag will stay together for the entire trip as it took some serious strength to close it shut! To help prevent my bag from popping over I purchased a luggage strap and with a prayer it should hold.
I wanted to sit in a window seat, but I could not select my set until 24 before my flight. At exactly 9:45 pm I raced to my computer and I finally was able to reserve my window seat. I was sooooo hoping I wouldnt be sitting in the middle of two strangers. Where would I place my head? My neighbor's shoulder? No way! In a window seat I can at least lean against the window.
On another note, I wanted to tell y'all that my first plane leaves Dulles International Airport at 9:45 p.m. I will be flying in a Boeing 777 airplane. After stopping in Qatar for a two hour layover, I will arrive in Abu Dhabi at 1035 pm the following day. I will actually be flying on Airbus airplane for the final leg. That is going to be cool!
It is going to be a long day!
