Taking my place up to the check in desk, I was soooo nervous. I kept thinking "What if they tell me there is something wrong with my passport or ticket?' Thankfully, every went by smoothly and I proceeded down a glass-walled tunnel towards the plane. The Boeing 777 is a very big plane. I looked at my ticket and read "Seat 15K". Walking through the door the Flight attendant motioned me to go strait through the galley. I walked ahead, but since he had an accent I thought that maybe I misunderstood him so I made the first right turn. I found out, that the plane is divided into three sections. My section was indeed just as the attendant said, on the far side of the plane.
I found my way to my window seat and was amazed at all the techology in the plane. As you can see in the picture on the left, each flyer has their own video monitor. This is a pretty awesome system! On it you can watch movies, play video games, or watch some popular sitcoms. This is also where the safety information was given.
Takeoff went very smoothly, and for once I actually wasn't scared out of my wits with the fear of crashing. Soon after takeoff the attendants walked down through the aisles and gave out lemon drops and moist toilets for freshening up. It wasn't very long and dinner was served. Here is my dinner; Chicken meatloaf, peas & carrots, mashed potatoes, cheese and crackers, Mung bean salad, roll, water, and apple compote. Everything was ok, but the mung bean salad was just too bitter/sour for my taste so I left it on my tray.
After dinner, I watched the movie "Cowboys & Aliens". It was ok, but I am glad I didn't have to pay to rent it. When the movie was over, I went to sleep. I woke up early in the morning. I have absolutely no idea what time it was, but I could see the sun was just coming up. However, since we were heading towards the sun, the time was getting farther ahead of the regular EST.
Soon the attendants were walking through the aisles handing out hot towels to wash out faces and hands. That was a pleasant experience. Soon, breakfast arrived.
Breakfast was not too bad, but was way too much to eat! When the meal was over, I had about two hours before landing in Qatar. During this time, I read and played trivia games on the video monitor. Soon the plane was smoothly landing, and I realized I indeed made it across the Atlantic ocean! I had landed in Qatar!
